The In-Between Season: How to Freshen Up Your Home (Without the Clutter)

The In-Between Season: How to Freshen Up Your Home (Without the Clutter)

February is a confusing time.

Depending on where you live, one day you might be bundled up in a parka fighting off the chill, and the next day the sun comes out and teases you with 50-degree weather, making you want to crack a window.

We call this "The In-Between Season." The holidays are officially in the rearview mirror, and we are ready to move on from heavy pine and cinnamon scents. But true Spring? It hasn't quite sprung yet.

If you scroll through Instagram or Pinterest right now, you will see beautiful homes undergoing elaborate "Spring Refreshes." People are swapping out heavy wool throw blankets for light linens, changing their pillow covers to pastels, and artfully arranging fresh tulips on coffee tables.

We have to be honest with you—that is not happening at our house.

Since we're not buying new furniture or rearranging the living room, we use the easiest, lowest-clutter trick in the book: We change the scent.

Scent is the invisible decoration. It doesn't take up space, you don't have to dust it, and it instantly changes the entire mood of a room.

Here is howto navigate the transition from Winter to Spring using just fragrance:

1. Clear the Air

After months of keeping the windows shut tight against the cold, our homes can feel a little stuffy. To combat that winter hibernation vibe, reach for scents in our Fresh & Clean Family.

Ocean Air & Amber is an absolute go-to right now. It is crisp, airy, and clean, but it still has that underlying warmth from the amber notes, so it doesn't feel too "chilly" for a February day. It makes the house smell like you just spent hours deep-cleaning with the windows open, even if you just shoved the laundry into a basket five minutes ago.

2. Keep the Cozy, Ditch the Holiday

By February, we are ready to retire the scents that scream December. However, it is likely still cold outside, so we're not quite ready for full-blown florals yet.

This is where transitional cozy scents shine. Cashmere & Cedarwood is perfect for this gap. It’s warm, sophisticated, and inviting—perfect for curling up on the couch on a gray afternoon—but it works year-round. It’s cozy without feeling seasonal.

3. The "Chaos-Proof" Option

On Saturdays when the kids are running wild, we switch to flameless options.

Our Wax Melts are my savior on chaotic days. You can pop a few cubes into your warmer and within minutes the whole area smells amazing. It’s a worry-free way to lift the mood of the house instantly.

Looking Ahead

We are just a few weeks away from our official Spring Collection launch (mark your calendars for Sunday, February 22nd), where we’ll be bringing back some beautiful floral favorites and the highly requested return of Sunshine & Grace.

But until then, don't feel pressured to overhaul your entire home just because the calendar flipped. You don't need new pillows to feel refreshed. Just light a fresh wick, pour a cup of coffee, and enjoy the cozy transition.
